The Role

We have four luxury restaurants and a functions kitchen at Millbrook Resort. The role is responsible for always providing outstanding service to all guests. Also supporting the Executive Chef, Head Chef and Executive Sous Chef to ensure that all aspects of Millbrook's F&B outlets and functions receive excellent service throughout daily operational hours, ensuring that guest expectation levels are met and always exceeded resulting in future return business.

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Sous Chef to lead by example and join the team. This is a busy and rewarding work environment with plenty of variety and opportunities to push culinary boundaries.

  • Minimum of 3 years relevant chef experience in a comparable environment desirable.
  • Proven ability and desire to continually provide superior customer service.
  • Strong commitment to teamwork with a "hands-on" approach.
  • Previous experience in Function, catering for large number, cooking, and handling protein and fish preferable.
  • Ability to work to a deadline.
  • Relevant qualifications preferable.
  • Previous management experience including training, demonstrating techniques, and advising on procedures preferable.

Location: Arrowtown, Queenstown.

Hours: Full time permanent (guaranteed 30/40 hours per week)

Pay Banding: $30.00 - $32.00 per hour depending on experience.

What is your favourite part about working at Millbrook?

We have lots of diversity within our different restaurants and this gives our guests an option to choose from our variety of cuisines.

What made you choose Millbrook as an employer?

When I first arrived in Queenstown Millhouse was one of the very few fine dining restaurants and I really wanted to work on a scenic resort.

What made you decide to work as a head chef?

It was the next step for my career progression and being able to have the freedom to create my own menus.

Describe the day-to-day role of working in the kitchen department.

Depending on where you are working, it can be cooking breakfast, getting ready for lunch in the HIO, or picking your ingredients from our wonderful garden to produce a patch-to-plate experience in our Millhouse restaurant.
